Medical Science Liaison – Solid Tumor / Breast Oncology (Southern California)

Our client is a specialty pharmaceutical company that is part of a large, multi-decade-old multinational pharmaceutical group with commercial operations across dozens of countries.

The company built its oncology franchise around a foundational breast cancer therapy that held a multi-year head start in its category, generating the substantial majority of company revenue, before new competitors entered for the first time in 2026. It also markets a first-in-class targeted therapy for a rare blood cancer, and its parent group markets a broader oncology portfolio across hematology and solid tumors.

The Role They Will Play

This Medical Science Liaison will represent the company's scientific and clinical presence across a large Western territory spanning Southern California and Hawaii, engaging Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) and Health Care Providers (HCPs) in fair, balanced scientific exchange on the company's pipeline and disease-state data.

The role addresses a timely need: translating a growing body of solid tumor and breast cancer data at a moment when the competitive landscape is shifting quickly, while also supporting investigator-initiated and company-sponsored trials, advisory boards, and scientific congress engagement.

Unlike a purely reactive medical affairs seat, this position pairs proactive KOL engagement with fast-turn scientific support for a commercial team navigating new competition, offering meaningfully more visibility than a typical steady-state MSL territory.

For a candidate early in their MSL career, or coming directly from an academic or fellowship background, it is a rare chance to build a career-defining foundation in a therapeutic area with real momentum.

Background Profile

The client's posted qualifications, and the priorities the hiring team described directly, both matter here. Candidates should bring most of the following:

• Advanced degree preferred (MD, PhD, PharmD preferred).
• Established relationships with HCPs and other KOLs within the territory.
• At least 5 years of MSL experience preferred; at least 2 years of MSL/Medical Affairs experience required.
• Solid Tumor focus required, with experience in Breast Medical Oncology strongly preferred.
• Strong knowledge and/or experience of healthcare and access environments.
• Proven ability to work independently and cross-functionally in a high-matrixed environment, including joint venture collaborations.
• Preferred experience on product launches or as a product/therapeutic point of contact.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills; strong personal integrity and a customer focus.
• Strong compliance knowledge, including current working knowledge of FDA, OIG, ICH, GCP, PhRMA Code, HIPAA, and related regulations.
• This position requires greater than 75% domestic travel, including within the territory and to the home office and national meetings.
